This September, as we recognize World Alzheimer’s Month, it’s more important than ever to focus on brain health within tribal communities. American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian peoples face unique risks due to a history of trauma and disparities in healthcare access. However, by embracing cultural strengths—like traditional foods, languages, and practices—tribal communities can reduce the risk of dementia and promote healthier aging.
This month, we encourage you to explore our latest resources on reducing dementia risk, share your stories of resilience, and continue advocating for brain health across Indian Country.
