This October, IA2 attended the 2023 BOLD Program Kick-off Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Westin Atlanta Perimeter Hotel. The meeting was a collaborative of BOLD Program Grantees, NHBI Grantees (IA2 as a NHBI Component B Grantee), CDC program staff, and public health partners. The meeting provided the latest information about Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) and technical assistance for the new BOLD Grantees. It was a great experience and honor for the IA2 Brain Health Team to meet the new BOLD Grantees and continue to collaborate with the other grantees. Our own, Kelsey Donnellan, Director of Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease Projects, spoke on a panel titled, “What Can the Healthy Brain Initiative Projects Do for You?”. This featured four of the Healthy Brain Initiative (HBI) Projects, including IA2, University of Chicago, UsAgainstAlzheimer’s, and Alzheimer’s Association. This panel allowed new awardees to ask questions and learn and understand the existing activities that current grantees are doing, including for American Indian and Alaska Native peoples.
IA2 also had in attendance Bill Benson, Executive Director and President, Mary Ann O’Meara, Senior Public Health Programs and Communications Associate, and Breana Dorame, Tribal Public Health and Aging Associate. IA2 had a table with all of our Healthy Brain Resources for attendees to take back with them and ask our team any questions about our development process and IA2’s mission.
