Margaret Carson
Elder Justice Consultant
Margaret Carson, MA, GMHS, LMHC has worked with elders for over 40 years. Her master’s degree is in Psychology and she earned her Geriatric Mental Health Specialist and Mental Health Counseling License while working with elders in community mental health and crisis intervention programs. She started working in Washington State Adult Protective Services in 1992 where she conducted investigations in the Seattle and surrounding area. In 2011, she began working with the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe and assisted them to develop their tribal APS program after they enacted their Elder Abuse Protection Code. Since 2016, she has been the Program Manager and has developed policies, procedures, and guidelines for the program. She has been the Project Coordinator for two Department of Justice grants. The Elder Abuse Hotline was established with funding from the grants, and currently receives over 1000 calls per year. She makes national presentations on APS in Indian Country and elder related topics.
