Drs. Soo Borson and Joshua Chodosh, co-leads of the BOLD Center of Excellence on Early Detection, recently published “The National Public Health Response to Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias: Origins, Evolution, and Recommendations to Improve Early Detection.” This journal article describes and analyzes the importance of state plans in addressing early detection of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias over the last two decades, including among populations disproportionately affected by the condition. The authors point out that state plans offer critical infrastructure through which public health departments, community organizations, and health systems can collaborate on policy and practice actions that will improve dementia outcomes at the national level.
