2025 Tribal Elder Abuse Code Summit

On August 13, 2025, IA2 and AARP Oklahoma co-hosted the 2025 Tribal Elder Abuse Code Summit at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Catoosa, OK. This one-day event brought together tribal leaders, legal and judicial professionals, Title VI directors, law enforcement, social services, APS professionals, and elder justice advocates to strengthen protections for tribal elders.

Highlights included:
  • Expert presentations on resources available to help tribal communities develop or enhance tribal elder abuse codes
  • Real-world strategies and best practices for effective elder abuse code development
  • Collaboration insights on how state and tribal APS programs can work together
  • Tactics to combat fraud and scams that target tribal elders
  • Interactive breakout sessions where participants drafted new tribal elder abuse plans and refined existing codes
