NDSU Extension and SDSU Extension will host a free virtual Caregiver Learning Workshop about understanding and responding to dementia on January 19, 2023, starting at 12:00 p.m. CST (11:00 a.m. MT).Family caregivers face many challenges and often do not know where to turn for help. To help connect family caregivers with the information and services they need, NDSU Extension and SDSU Extension collaborate to offers Caregiver Learning Workshops. This series includes three workshops offered in January, February and March. These workshops are hosted via Zoom over the lunch hour, so that working caregivers might have a better opportunity to participate. In addition to individual participants, efforts will be made to recruit individuals and organizations to host watch parties so that individuals without access to the internet can watch the workshops.

WORKSHOP SUMMARY
This presentation will review the challenging behavioral aspects of Alzheimer’s disease and strategies to use to help address them. By the end of the program, you will be able to identify common triggers for behaviors associated with dementia, explain the process of assessing and identify challenging behavior, and list strategies to address some of the common dementia-related behaviors.
