Funding is available for local health departments to be a national leader in advancing public health action on Alzheimer’s disease. Tribal Health Departments are eligible and encouraged to apply! Applications are due on August 2nd.
Under the new Healthy Brain Initiative (HBI) Road Map Strategists initiative, up to six (6) local health departments or partnering nonprofit hospitals/health systems will receive direct funding, training, and technical assistance to establish a part-time HBI Road Map Strategist.

Eligibility: As the main worksite, tribal LHDs are the priority eligible organization to serve as a Strategist host. If an interested tribal LHD does not have the capacity to administer the project but can serve as the primary worksite, a partnering nonprofit hospital/hospital system may serve as the fiscal agent and/or administrative host organization for the benefit of both organizations. Applicants must designate a specific senior or mid-career employee with public health knowledge to actively and fully participate in the Road Map Strategist initiative.

Notification Date: August 27, 2021
- Two-part grant totaling $48,000 (a small, flexible match is required);
- Travel costs once in-person events are safe and feasible; and
- Educational events, coaching, technical assistance, tools, and peer learning.
Participation Period: September 2021 through November 2022, with opportunities to remain involved afterward through an alumni program.
